Just like the other Sharks of season 1, like Ashneer and Vinita, Amit is also an IITian. He is an alumnus of IIT Delhi and is originally from Jaipur, Rajasthan. He completed his early education from St. Xavier’s school. The 45-year-old entrepreneur worked as a Software Engineer with Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). He later moved to Austin to work for another software firm.
After completing his engineering in 1998, he started working as an engineer at Tata consultancy services. In 2006, he started working in his small office in his house’s garage and incorporated his software company GirnarSoft along with his brother Anurag Jain. In 2008, after he attended Auto Expo in New Delhi, Amit and Anurag decided to start their own portal named CarDekho. The portal provided reliable information to the users and reviews on used and new cars. After the success of their portal CarDekho, they launched various other ventures like InsuranceDekho, BikeDekho, and CollegeDekho. Under his leadership, CarDekho underwent a lot of key acquisitions like Gaadi, Zigwheels, PowerDrift, Carmudi Philippines in the years 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2019 respectively.
