No more phone-switching woes: Connect up to four devices to your primary WhatsApp account.

WhatsApp offers solutions for diverse user needs, whether it’s using multiple accounts on one phone or a single account across several devices. If you need to access one WhatsApp account on multiple devices, follow this comprehensive guide to add up to four companion devices to your primary account.

You can connect up to four devices, including the primary one, to use one WhatsApp account simultaneously. This enables real-time access to messages and calls on all five devices. However, WhatsApp Web as a companion device does not support making or receiving calls.

How to add companion devices on WhatsApp

To add a PC or Mac as a companion device via the browser (WhatsApp Web), there’s no need to download the WhatsApp app; simply use a web browser like Safari, Chrome, or Edge.

Visit web.whatsapp.com to find a QR code on your computer. On your smartphone with the primary WhatsApp account, tap the menu icon in the top-right corner, choose “Linked Devices,” and select “Link a Device.”

Scan the QR code on your PC with your smartphone to link the devices. Once connected, you can access your WhatsApp account on the web browser. Alternatively, you can link by entering an eight-digit unique code on your primary device using the phone number.

Likewise, to use the same WhatsApp account on an additional Android smartphone or iPhone.

Download the app from the Play Store or App Store, choose your language, and accept the terms of service. Then, tap the menu icon in the top-right corner, select “Link as a Companion Device,” and scan the QR code from your primary smartphone to add it as a companion device.

Here’s a simplified step-by-step guide to using a single WhatsApp account on multiple devices

  1. Update WhatsApp: Ensure that you have the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your primary device.
  2. Open WhatsApp: Launch WhatsApp on your primary device.
  3. Access Settings: Tap on the three dots in the top-right corner and choose “Linked Devices.”
  4. Select “Link a Device”: Tap on the “Link a Device” option to begin linking.
  5. Scan the QR code: On the device you want to link, open WhatsApp and scan the QR code shown on your primary device.
  6. Verify: Follow the on-screen instructions to verify the linking process.
  7. Repeat for more devices: Repeat steps 3-6 for each additional device (up to four devices).
  8. Manage linked devices: You can manage linked devices in the “Linked Devices” section under Settings.

Note- Keep in mind that QR codes for adding companion devices expire quickly, so it’s best to add a companion device when both smartphones are connected to high-speed internet.
