The E3 is one of the most keenly anticipated events in the technology calendar, when fans flock from all over the world to enjoy the latest trends at the Los Angeles Convention Centre. Microsoft Introduce the Innovative and Ground-breaking HoloLens
While the virtual and augmented reality markets are hot in 2015, few products have caught the imagination like Microsoft’s HoloLens. Combining the best visual elements of both virtual and augmented reality, the HoloLens uses holographic technology to empower a truly sensory gaming experience for players. It can be applied to every conceivable type of gaming from roulette to the popular Minecraft, and Microsoft took the opportunity provided by the E3 to showcase this incredible product. The Holographic version of Minecraft blew visitors away, while Microsoft confirmed that players would be able to ‘build’ structures on any surface type in the home.
Google will Compete Directly with Twitch TV
When Google lost out to Amazon for the right to buy Twitch TV last year, many predicted a backlash that would continue for years. This years’ E3 confirmed this, as Google took the opportunity to announce that it would compete directly against Twitch by creating its own YouTube Gaming platform. Building on the existing infrastructure of the YouTube website, Google will integrate live streaming and replicate the service that Twitch delivers on a broader scale. Whatever the outcome, we are sure to see some intense competition over the course of the next 12 months and beyond.
Dreams will be the next game from the makers of LittleBigPlanet
Gaming announcements always go down well at the E3, especially when it refers to one of the major studios or platforms. The announcement that the LittleBigPlanet studio Media Molecule was set to release its new title Dreams was met with genuine excitement, even though few details were given during a relatively short Sony briefing. It was revealed that the game will be exclusive to the PlayStation 4, however, while the developer also described it as resembling a ‘moving painting’ that will involve the exploration of other player’s dreams.
