How important is the number of bot accounts on Twitter for Elon Musk?

If you think that the Elon Musk – Twitter drama has ended, and the only thing to worry about right now is what happens to the company and its employees after the takeover then you are wrong.

Tesla owner, Elon Musk previously expressed that he can reinstate the ban placed on Donald Trump by the social media giant when he closes the deal. Until the internet could process it, Elon Musk has recently announced that the Twitter deal has been temporarily placed on hold, and shortly after this, he tweeted, “Still committed to acquisition”.

When he stated plans about what he wanted to do with Twitter after the acquisition, one of the major things he wanted to deal with was handling the spam accounts or bot accounts. Another thing was to promote free speech on the platform.

Recently when Twitter announced its Q1 2022 financial results, Twitter said, ” The average of false or spam accounts during the first quarter of 2022 represented fewer than 5% of our mDAU during the quarter.” However, it also added that the number could be higher.

Elon Musk wanted more details about the statement Twitter made in its quarterly results. That is when Musk tweeted the Twitter deal was on hold or pending until he gained some clarity about the topic. This caused an upheaval in the market on Friday, resulting in the company’s stock price dipping 25%. The latter tweet did help the company recover its losses to some extent.

The issue is so important for Musk that he has come up with his own plan to determine the number of fake accounts or spam accounts on Twitter. He tweeted, “To find out, my team will do a random sample of 100 followers of @twitter. I invite others to repeat the same process and see what they discover…”

Twitter users definitely joined Musk and asked several doubts about how it is supposed to be done. One user tweeted:

It is unsure whether the technique suggested by Elon Musk holds good or not. But many people think that putting the deal on hold, for this reason, doesn’t seem justifiable.
