Android games will be available on Windows PCs next year, according to Google. From 2022 onwards, Microsoft will launch a Google Play Games application that runs the games from Google Play on Windows laptops, tablets, and PCs. Three overseas markets, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan, will be the first to begin receiving Google Play Games for PC’s limited beta test this week. In addition to platforms like mobile, tablet, and ChromeOS, Google Play Games PC application, announced last month during The Game Awards, allows players to access Google Play games on Windows PC’s. In addition to laptops and desktop computers, Google said the updated PC support includes Android devices as well. Players will be able to pick up where they left off when switching from another device, such as an Android phone, to their desktop.

An approximate date for the arrival of the PC app has not yet been announced. The first markets were expected to receive access to the PC application in early 2022. Testing will give testers the opportunity to experience games such as “Mobile Legends: Bang Bang,” “Summoners War,” “State of Survival: The Joker Collaboration” and “Three Kingdoms Tactic.” Each month, hundreds of millions of players around the world enjoy these games.

Those who sign up for the beta will have access to more than 25 games in total. Users will be able to browse the catalog and download games on their PCs, in addition to using both mouse and keyboard inputs. Play Points will continue to be earned when gaming on the PC, as well as your gameplay progress will sync between devices, Google announced today.

Microsoft recently announced its efforts to bring Android apps to Windows 11, which included a partnership with Amazon and its own Amazon Appstore, in response to an uptick in cross-platform demand for video games.  It’s not a streaming service due to the fact that players will have to download the games to their computers as Google Play Games for PC is built independently without any help from Microsoft. The company says it will provide Android developers with more details as the beta goes live so they will be able to optimize their existing games to be compatible with Windows PCs, so they can enjoy the expanded accessibility of the PC app.

Last month, Google said that by launching a Windows app, it could expand the Google Play games ecosystem across 2.5 billion monthly active users.
