Intel has just released its new Core Ultra mobile processors at the AI Everywhere event. These processors are now available worldwide and are being used in over 230 of the world’s first AI PCs. Leading brands like Acer, ASUS, Dell, Dynabook, Gigabyte, Google Chromebook, HP, Lenovo, LG, Microsoft Surface, MSI, and Samsung are among the first to include these processors in their devices.

Intel’s concept of an AI PC represents a significant leap forward in personal computing, aiming to address the growing demand for enhanced performance and extended battery life. The focal point of this innovation lies in leveraging the power of artificial intelligence within operating systems and applications.

At the heart of this advancement is the Intel Core Ultra processor, a cutting-edge component equipped with dedicated AI acceleration capabilities spanning the CPU, GPU, and the newly introduced NPU (Neural Processing Unit). Intel AI Boost, the NPU, takes center stage by efficiently handling prolonged AI workloads while operating at low power. This strategic addition not only complements AI processing on the CPU and GPU but also boasts an impressive 2.5 times improvement in power efficiency compared to its predecessor.

What sets the Intel Core Ultra processor apart is its distinction as the inaugural processor built on the Intel 4 process technology. It incorporates Foveros 3D advanced packaging technology, a testament to Intel’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation. The processor integrates a potent Intel Arc GPU featuring up to eight Xe-cores, introducing AI-driven Xe Super Sampling (XeSS), DX12 Ultimate support, and an impressive doubling of graphics performance compared to preceding generations.

This GPU is no ordinary graphics solution; it embraces modern features such as hardware-accelerated ray tracing, mesh shading, AV1 encode and decode, HDMI 2.1, and DisplayPort 2.1 20G. The result is a comprehensive and forward-looking approach to graphics processing, promising a transformative experience for users engaging in a spectrum of activities, from gaming to multimedia content creation. In essence, the Intel Core Ultra processor represents a significant stride toward a new era of computing, where the fusion of AI capabilities and advanced processing technologies sets the stage for more powerful, efficient, and immersive personal computing experiences.

Michelle Johnston Holthaus, the Executive Vice President and General Manager of Intel’s Client Computing Group, expressed, “The introduction of Intel Core Ultra underscores the unparalleled scale and velocity with which Intel is empowering AI on the PC. Looking ahead to 2028, we anticipate that AI PCs will make up 80% of the PC market. With our extensive ecosystem of hardware and software partners, Intel is in the optimal position to usher in this next generation of computing.”

Holthaus’s statement highlights Intel’s commitment to advancing artificial intelligence capabilities within the realm of personal computing. The vision for the future, as outlined, envisions a substantial integration of AI into PCs, with the expectation that a significant majority of PCs in 2028 will be AI-enabled.
