Anupriya Laxmi Katoch was featured in her Bollywood debut, 3 Shyaane in the year 2022. She is also the winner of a couple of beauty pageants and is looking to do South Indian movies.

Hailing from Himachal Pradesh, Ms. Anupriya feels that you need to do sheer hard work and also need some amount of luck to be successful in the entertainment industry. Here’s what the actor shared with team Sociobits:

Team Sociobits: Did you always want to be an actor and venture into the entertainment industry?

Anupriya Laxmi Katoch: I started to love acting in childhood and I always dreamt of becoming an actor. I hail from Himachal Pradesh, and for us, it is a little difficult to figure out how to become an actor. The first step is to convince your parents that you want to step into this glamorous industry. I was lucky that my grandmother supported me and that’s why I am here today.

Team Sociobits: How has your journey in the entertainment industry been so far?

Anupriya Laxmi Katoch: I started my journey in 2015 when I won the title of ‘Miss Himalaya’. Then I won the title of Miss Glory of the World where the model from China was the runner up and I bagged first place. I did some shoots and TV shows in Himachal and I also shot a song in Punjab finally, I came to Mumbai.

I really feel that Mumbai is not how you imagine it to be from a small town in Himachal. To come here and find work is very difficult. On top of this, it is very difficult for a woman to work in the entertainment industry or be it any industry. One may say that the generation will change for a woman by that’s not at all true. A woman should be smart enough to know the work she is doing and the kind of people she is working with no matter which field she is in.

On the other hand, luck is a big factor in the acting industry. If you are lucky enough, you can get to work every day or you could also be sitting at home for a year or so. So, luck is very important I would say.

Team Sociobits: How did you feel after coming to Mumbai and starting to work here?

Anupriya Laxmi Katoch: When I came to Mumbai, I think I was quite healthy and I weighed around 95 kgs. I was lucky enough to get featured in a movie called 3 Shyaane. I have received a lot of advertisements also in a similar way. The people I worked with were very nice, I was glad to work with them and they released the movie after the COVID-19 lockdown was lifted.

Team Sociobits: How was your Bollywood debut experience?

Anupriya Laxmi Katoch: It felt really good! I think that I was the only new face and the rest of the star cast included known faces. I did come with the dream to become an actor but I didn’t learn a lot. My first movie taught me that it is very important to be a skillful actor but to really get where you want to reach, you also need acting. You need to prepare before you enter the industry and if you don’t do that then it will be very difficult for you to get a job.

Team Sociobits: We are aware that you are also looking to get into the South Indian film industry. Could you tell us more about it?

Anupriya Laxmi Katoch: I am looking to do a Tamil movie, along with Bollywood. Although I am active in the Bollywood industry, I am looking to do South Indian and Punjabi projects as well. According to the people in the South Indian industry, my height, and body structure will suit the industry. On the other hand, I am very fluent in Punjabi. So, I am trying my luck in Tollywood, Bollywood as well as Pollywood!

The only difficulty is traveling. In today’s time, people don’t believe in the pictures that they see. Unless and until you meet them in person, they don’t work with you. So, whether traveling is worth it or not becomes a big question. Plus, there are so many beautiful women in the industry, competition always persists. Hiring an actor from the shoot location becomes more cost-effective for everyone.

Actor Anupriya Laxmi Katoch points out the reality of working in the entertainment industry. You need a lot of focus, motivation, dedication, and some luck to actually climb up the ladder of success.
