The number of bot accounts on Twitter is a huge mystery for Elon Musk and he seems too desperate to know the truth. Twitter claims that the platform has less than 5% bot accounts but the Tesla Head just won’t buy it! He canceled the $44 billion Twitter buy-out deal because of this, he also encouraged Twitter users to come up with a method to calculate the number of bot accounts on the platform, and very recently he challenged Parag Agrawal, CEO of Twitter to an open debate about bot accounts. Elon Musk is trying too hard or maybe that’s all he has on Twitter?
Now that the matter has reached the court with the trial set to begin on 17th October, Musk wants to try new ways to yet again, get access to the number of bot accounts on the platform. This week, Elon Musk’s lawyers moved one step closer to the truth by getting access to evidence from one of former Twitter executives, Mr. Kayvon Beykpour.
Judge Kathaleen McCormick, the judge who is overseeing the case ruled that Twitter, “is required to collect, review, and produce documents from Kayvon Beykpour. The plaintiff is not required to collect, review, or produce documents from any other of the defendants’ proposed 22 additional custodians.”

The judge rejected Musk’s lawyers’ appeal to produce documents from the 21 other potential witnesses. After Twitter recently issued subpoenas to Musk and his dear billionaire friends regarding any communication that happened related to the Twitter deal, Musk’s lawyers are looking for something against the social media giant.
On the other hand, Kayvon Beykpour seems to play an important role in the Musk-Twitter lawsuit. Twitter fired him on May 12th after being in the company for seven years to which Mr. Beykpour tweeted, “Parag asked me to leave after letting me know that he wants to take the team in a different direction.”
Musk in his response to Twitter’s lawsuit explained how Beykpour was fired amidst the merger without seeking his consent. He also believed that Beykpour was one of the executives who knew the ins and outs of the calculation of bot accounts.
While both sides are gearing up for the battle that is set to begin three months from today, Musk is stuck at bot accounts, and with small wins on both sides, for the layman, it has become a game of chess that may soon get boring and just doesn’t seem to end.
