Since Elon Musk acquired Twitter in October, things have really gotten interesting on the platform. Just recently, Musk was releasing “insider information” about what was going on at the social media giant before he took over like people were watching a soap opera called Twitter Files.

“As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it,” tweeted Elon Musk aka Chief Twit (not for long!) after he started a poll on the platform asking users if he should step down from his position at the company. He also added that “I will abide by the results of this poll.”

And, it may not come as a shocker after everything that has been up on Twitter, but the poll released by “the man of his words” Musk suggested 57.5% of the users wanted him to step down against only 42.5% of users who wanted him to stay. More than 17.5 million people were a part of this poll.

This is only the most recent of the chaotic events that have been happening on Twitter. Previously, Elon Musk also banned many journalists’ accounts on the platform related to a controversy over publishing public data about his plane. He later reinstated the accounts after receiving criticism. Last week, he disbanded the company’s Trust and Safety Council. He also updated Twitter’s policy that prohibited the accounts created to only promote other social media platforms and their content, and so on and so forth.

After the most recent poll, a Twitter account expressed that the head of Twitter has already picked out a new CEO. To this, Musk replied, “No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive. There is no successor.”

No matter what the situation is, the verdict is out. There is a chance that Musk can certainly step down and a new CEO can become his hand puppet. Or maybe there’s another twist that we cannot comprehend yet. Well, if that’s what it takes to restore free speech on the platform. So be it.
