Snap Inc, owner of photo messaging app Snapchat, announced that it is rolling out an artificial intelligence chatbot on the platform to uprade the user-experience. The Chatbot is powered by the trending ChatGPT of OpenAI.

The Chatbot has been named ‘My AI’ and will be pinned to Snapchat’s chat tab on top of the conversations with friends section.

Currently, the new feature will only be available for ‘Snapchat Plus’ subscribers charging them $3.99 as a monthly fee. Snap’s CEO Evan Spiegel, who is betting big on AI chatbots, plans to make the chatbot feature on the platform available to all users for free in the near future.

“The big idea is that in addition to talking to our friends and family every day, we’re going to talk to AI every day, and this is something we’re well positioned to do as a messaging service,” Spiegel told The Verge.

Snapchat has launched an experimental artificial intelligence chatbot that leverages OpenAI’s ChatGPT service.

‘As with all AI-powered chatbots, My AI is prone to hallucination and can be tricked into saying just about anything. Please be aware of its many deficiencies and sorry in advance! All conversations with My AI will be stored and may be reviewed to improve the product experience. Please do not share any secrets with My AI and do not rely on it for advice,’ says Snapchat in a blog post. The company has told that during the initial phase, My AI may make mistakes, but the company aims to prevent any dissemination of “biased, incorrect, harmful, or misleading information” through the chatbot. It is also possible for the chatbot to reveal unwanted information, as it is in the case with other chatbots like OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google Bard.

“My AI can recommend birthday gift ideas for your BFF, plan a hiking trip for a long weekend, suggest a recipe for dinner, or even write a haiku about cheese for your cheddar-obsessed pal. Make My AI your own by giving it a name and customizing the wallpaper for your Chat.” The new AI chatbot feature has been launched for a better and more creative user experience.
